Held at the Kelowna Forum on January 18, 2018, the Men’s Voices Gala Fundraiser by Kelowna-based Okanagan Photography will kick off in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna.
In 2017, Okanagan Photography set out to create an inspired and humbling photo-series, showcasing a visual compilation of hardship, achievement, dedication and determination of the men closest to us who are living with or have lived with mental health hardships. Okanagan Photography will be offering hardcover books and 2018 calendar compilations of “Men’s Voices” for purchase at the Gala.
With a goal to reach $18,000 in donations, all proceeds for event tickets, book and calendar sales, and direct donations will be put forward to build resources for Men’s Mental Health.

This is an opportunity for our entire community to get involved in raising additional funds to apply to the development of services for men. Invite your friends!
About the cause:
Suicide is the second largest cause of death for young Canadians aged 15 to 24. Mental health is ranked the second highest hospital care expenditure in Canada. Imagine if we had more prevention and education programs in place, how many young men could be saved. Statistics show that 4 out of 5 suicides are male. 75% of mental illness begins before age 25, and if we can work on arming the younger generations with more skills, we could have a healthier society.
CMHA Kelowna facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness. CMHA Kelowna is the lead agency of Foundry Kelowna – a place where any youth or parent in our community can find easy access to the help they need, when they need it. It is an integrated youth and family initiative that will transform how mental health and substance use services are delivered in Kelowna; providing early intervention to support young peoples’ well-being.
A massive thank you to our sponsors, as well as the Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna.
