Community Clean Up Fundraising Campaign

May 28, 2020 By Daniel Harbridge Leave a Comment

A local moving company has started a fundraising campaign to clean up the community. Brett + Buddies Moving and Junk Removal is pledging to rid Okanagan neighbourhoods, alleys and parks of litter and junk that has been left behind. In return, they are asking for donations to the Kelowna branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Brett Waldherr, owner of Brett + Buddies, has been a supporter of the mental health organization for the past 2 years. “Whenever we have furniture that our moving clients no longer need, we pass it along to CMHA Kelowna.” Waldherr and his team have supported more than 100 CMHA Kelowna housing residents with good quality, usable furniture. “We know that CMHA Kelowna provides housing for more than 200 people in our community and we want to help them do that – because everyone deserves a safe and comfortable place they can call home.”

Brett + Buddies Moving and Junk Removal will also be taking monetary donations in support of the CMHA Kelowna branch, to help the organization continue to feed, house and support vulnerable community members.

“We are grateful to the tremendous support Brett and the entire team has shown to CMHA Kelowna,” says Jessica Samuels CMHA Kelowna Communications Manager. “We have a commitment to support anyone in our community who needs it. Having a stable place to live is the first step for those who have been experiencing homelessness to stabilize their lives. Through Brett’s ongoing generosity we are able to help individuals create a sense of home – often for the first time in years.”

The goal of Brett + Buddies’ Community Clean Up campaign is to tidy streets/alleys/areas that are not always maintained but are important to our community. To participate, Brett is asking people to visit Brett + Buddies’ Facebook page and share pictures of junk in their neighbourhood that they’d like to see removed, including a description of the location of the item(s). In exchange for the cleanup service, people are being asked to make a donation to CMHA Kelowna, here.
