Campus Dialogue on Drinking Culture – UBC Okanagan

Hey UBC! Let’s talk about drinking…

Join us on Thursday, March 7th from 5pm-7pm for a dialogue on drinking culture on campus. Come share your thoughts on the following topics, and more: what does moderate drinking mean? What are positive aspects versus risks of drinking? What role does alcohol play in our relationships? How will it impact our careers or industry?

Free food will be provided! Location: ART 104. Registration is requested.

Fast Facts:

  • 20% of drinkers exceed Canada’s low-risk drinking guidelines
  • Alcohol sales contribute over $1 billion annually to BC’s income
  • 2017/2018 per capita pure alcohol (ethanol) consumption in BC for those age 15+ was 9.44L1
  • 9.44L equates to the average British Columbian drinker aged 15+ consuming 554 bottles of beer a year, 10.5 per week or 1.5 per day (regular strength 5% 341 mL bottles) or 105 average strength bottles of wine (12%, 750 mL bottles) or two bottles of wine per week or 1.5 medium glasses per day1
