Mental Health Week 2019

Get Ready to Get Loud!

2019 marks the 68th annual CMHA Mental Health Week. Each year, Canadians in communities, schools, work and town halls across the country celebrate, promote and acknowledge the role that good mental health plays in living a full and meaningful life. We know that one in five Canadians live with mental health barriers. But the reality is, five in five of us have mental health, just like we all have physical health.

Mental health is a state of well-being, and we all have it.

We might have a mental health issue, and we might not. Either way, we can all feel well. We can all experience good mental health. It is about having a sense of purpose, strong relationships, feeling connected to our communities, knowing who we are, coping with stress and enjoying life. It’s never too early or too late to get there. Everyone needs healthy and supportive places to work, live, learn and play.

Let’s #GETLOUD about what mental health really is!

CMHA Mental Health Week is May 6-12, 2019. Visit the official Mental Health Week website for more information on how you can get involved including shareables for social media, mental health articles and tips and more!

About CMHA Mental Health Week

CMHA Mental Health Week was first introduced in 1951 to raise mental health awareness. It is now a Canadian tradition, offering practical ways to maintain and improve mental health and support recovery.

About CMHA

Founded in 1918, the Canadian Mental HealthAssociation (CMHA) is the most established, most extensive community mental health organization in Canada. Through a presence in hundreds of neighbourhoods across every province, CMHA provides advocacy and resources that help to prevent mental health problems and illnesses, support recovery and resilience, and enable all Canadians to flourish and thrive.

CMHA Kelowna Branch Focus

The Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna and District Branch was founded in 1956 and is dedicated to the promotion of mental health of all. No matter how old or how young, we provide support for families and individuals through programs that promote positive mental health and support recovery, while championing the elimination of barriers that can prevent people from thriving.

We do this through: Building Homes, Building Lives and Building Community.
