Women’s Wellness Programs
As an organization dedicated to all aspects of mental health, CMHA Kelowna has integrated programs helping women live their lives to the fullest. CMHA Kelowna supports the mental health of hundreds of women each year by offering programming for those dealing with mental health issues to learn and improve themselves both physically and mentally. Through peer support, nutrition, and engaging physical and educational activities we help people live their best lives.
Through our Women’s Wellness Programs we come alongside courageous women who are struggling with their own mental health. Programs are designed to teach skills for wellness and build resilience that help women live their best lives. The journey of recovery from mental health issues is built on hope, support, personal responsibility, self-advocacy and education. Our peer mentors are there to listen, understand, and assist with goal-setting and recovery options. Our wellness team creates safe, supportive spaces for people to actively engage in recovery. Fitness, recreation, art projects and nutrition are all part of the holistic approach for women to learn and improve themselves both physically and mentally.
Funding for the the Women’s Wellness Programs at CMHA Kelowna comes from the funds raised through Shoppers LOVE. YOU. Run for Women – Kelowna. CMHA Kelowna is excited to be partnering with Shoppers Drug Mart to help women by providing innovative and integrated mental health programs and services. The 2019 run raised an incredible$60,000 for women’s mental health initiatives in our community. The run is back in Kelowna on May 10, 2020 – registration is now open!
Full Circle Art Project: the Full Circle Project is an art and storytelling initiative as part of our Women’s Wellness Programs. The project was facilitated by Rena Warren consisting of 8 workshops and group projects led by 3 local artists – Lee Claremont, Lynne Turner and Sharilyn Kuehnel with each project featuring a different medium. The circle serves as a literal and conceptual starting point and theme throughout. These works were displayed at the Kelowna Art Gallery from September to November 2019 as part of our annual Art Gala.
Funding for this project at CMHA Kelowna’s ArtWorks Studio comes from the funds raised through Shoppers LOVE. YOU. Run for Women – Kelowna.
