Home Support Worker – F/T Heath House

CMHA Kelowna is hiring a Home Support Worker (HSW) for our Heath House Supportive Housing program. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week Saturday to Wednesday, 9:00am-5:00pm.

WHO IS A HOME SUPPORT WORKER?

Home Support Workers within our organization provide in-unit assistance, support and basic life skills training to housing program residents. This role helps ensure tenant rooms meet health and safety requirements by providing home support services to tenants such as housekeeping, laundry, supporting tenants to learn housekeeping skills. This role will also take the lead in hosting events for residents, organize and collect community food and item donations, coordinate the meal program, engage in wellness checks, participate in monthly suite inspections as well as assisting the Manager with administrative duties.

WHAT DOES A HOME SUPPORT WORKER DO?

  • Provides feedback and input regarding participants’ needs, performance, and progress;
  • Participates in and oversees various participant-focused social and recreational activities;
  • Identifies available social, economic, recreational, and educational services and resources in the community that will meet participants’ needs. Provides participants with related information;
  • Assists participants with activities of daily living;
  • Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as statistics, progress reports, and daily logs;
  • Receives participant feedback, and inquiries and complaints, and responds as required;
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, and laundry;
  • Interpersonal and communication skills; including sensitivity to diverse backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated strength and training with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel;
  • Able to complete a variety of computer based paperwork and administration duties;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

YOUR STRENGTHS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Grade 12 as well as a Diploma in Community Social Service or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work;
  • Criminal Record Check in the Vulnerable Sector is required;
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid, and Food Safe are considered an asset;
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position;
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize;
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in participants;
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with participants;
  • Ability to instruct;
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems;
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.

Digital Communications Specialist (4-month Term Position)

WHO IS THE DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST?

 The CMHA Kelowna Digital Communications Specialist is a storyteller. You are a researcher, a listener, a strategist, and a creative content creator. You take anecdotes and stats and develop compelling stories of who we are and what we do.

This is a part-time position offering 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

 WHAT DOES A DIGITAL COMMUNCATIONS SPECIALIST DO?

As the Digital Communications Specialist you are responsible for amplifying CMHA Kelowna’s mission, vision, and values, internally and externally, through various channels. Reporting to the Director of People, Culture & Engagement, you will work together to form the strategic communications plan and implement the campaigns and activities that promote CMHA Kelowna’s programs and services. You are a strong believer that internal engagement is the key to a positive workplace culture. You will use frequent and creative communications tactics to keep 160+ employees across 7 sites updated and connected with all CMHA Kelowna happenings.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement team to develop a communications strategy that position CMHA Kelowna and Foundry Kelowna as informed and accessible mental health resources;
  • Plan and implement digital communications campaigns that support the overall communications strategy for internal and external audiences;
  • Identify and create content by developing strong relationships with program leads and individuals who access CMHA Kelowna and Foundry Kelowna services;
  • Strengthen relationships with community fundraisers, donors, volunteers, and staff using various communication channels;
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement team to develop and execute inspiring fundraising campaigns;
  • Manage all organizational social media accounts through a consistent and compelling voice;
  • Monitor and report on email and social media analytics in order to influence and fine-tune our communication strategies;
  • Research and make recommendations on trends and best practices for internal and external engagement through digital communications;
  • Produce and/or assist with the development of publications and other printed materials, either in-house or through coordination with external contractors;
  • Create and edit a variety of content in support of internal communications initiatives;
  • Stay current on topical information relevant to CMHA Kelowna’s mission;
  • Manage and update content on websites.

YOUR STRENGTHS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or minimum 2 years’ experience in communications and/or marketing role;
  • Working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud or similar graphic creation applications;
  • Strong writer;
  • Experience using WordPress;
  • Proactive & collaborative;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently;
  • Strong customer focus;
  • High degree of organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and but also love the collaborative team approach;
  • Outstanding ability to think creatively and strategically to identify and resolve issues.

IT IS A BONUS IF:

  • You have experience working in Sales Force or other CRM platforms.
  • You have a working knowledge of video editing software.
  • You have prior experience working in a non-profit environment.

Manager of People & Culture (Human Resources)

We are actively searching for a Manager of People & Culture to join our team who is ready to make a difference in pursuing a mentally healthy community.

Summary 

The Manager of People and Culture is the go-to person for ensuring our candidate and employee experiences are best in class. They are responsible for providing coaching, advising, and HR generalist support to all levels of the organization in the day-to-day operations of job design, recruitment, retention, onboarding, performance management, compliance and development. This person will also be responsible for leaves management and may also assist with workplace investigations. 

Reporting to the Director of People, Culture & Engagement, the Manager of People & Culture  provides operational HR leadership to internal leaders while ensuring an outstanding employee experience for all, at every stage of the employee life cycle.  The Manager of People & Culture will supervise the Coordinator of People & Culture and will work closely with the Education and Training Manager to ensure our training initiatives align with organizational needs and support employee retention and succession planning.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop People & Culture processes that contribute to our Organization thriving: 
    • Advise CMHA Kelowna leaders on HR best practices and lead the HR function
    • Guide the employee life cycle from attraction, selection, onboarding, offboarding
    • Participate in inquiries related to employee complaints, misconduct, and respectful workplace concerns and advise where appropriate
    • Oversee performance management and supervisory support functions through the offering and sourcing of ongoing coaching 
    • Liaise with the Education and Training Manager to ensure timely, relevant training for our employees
    • Mentor, guide, and coach employees to develop a solution focused approach 
    • Lead communication across all departments and employees about key HR programs, policies & initiatives
  • Drive a culture of engagement, health & wellness: 
    • Oversee and ensure compliance with CMHA Kelowna’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures including operationalizing Psychological Health and Safety Standard policies and practices 
    • Work closely with and guide alignment with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee 
    • Lead employee engagement and retention initiatives in partnership with CMHA Kelowna leaders 
  • Champion change and process improvement within the People & Culture function and CMHA Kelowna:  
    • Promote excellence in non-profit administration, governance, data management, and quality assurance
    • Identify and address opportunities to improve processes in HR Administration across the organization 
    • Utilize data and HR metrics to inform strategic HR initiatives
    • Model a people-first, growth mindset

Qualifications and Attributes we are looking for:

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation (preferred)
  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management 
  • Experience in previous HR Manager or Generalist role
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment (preferred)
  • Experience with creating policy and process documentation 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently 
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Demonstrated skill with Microsoft suite
